Your desk is full. Now what?
Most of us hit the same wall. The desk is covered, the new machine is still in its box, and stacking things on top of each other never ends well. Stands solve it, but picking the right one is harder than it looks.
SynthRISE stands come in three sizes, S, M and L, with one, two or three tiers. That sounds simple until you start measuring.
Four things decide whether it fits
Depth. This is the measurement that matters most, and the one people get wrong. Not how wide your synth is, but how deep, from the front edge to the back. Each tier has its own maximum depth, and the bottom tier is usually the most restrictive because the tier above sits close to it.
Width. The stands are adjustable, but there is a minimum as well as a maximum. Very narrow gear can actually be a problem, not just wide gear. A Volca is narrow enough that it may need the Adapt Hook Pivot Security Kit to sit safely.
Angle. A steeper tier fits deeper gear, but makes the machine harder to play. Some combinations only work if you accept a steeper angle than you would normally choose.
Weight and balance. A heavy machine on the top tier changes everything. The stand may need an extra set of Adapt Hooks acting as a kickstand at the back, and you may want the tier angle changed so the weight sits further back.
The exceptions are where it gets messy
Even when the measurements work, there are details that decide whether the setup is comfortable:
- Gear that hangs over the back edge may need extra hooks for support.
- Hooks in the middle tier sometimes have to move down, which eats into the space below.
- Bottom tier hooks may need to be extended forward, which changes the angle of the whole stand.
- Some gear only fits if the stand is in flat configuration.
None of this is obvious from a product photo, and it is exactly the kind of thing you discover after the box is open.

Three mistakes worth avoiding
- Measuring width instead of depth. Depth is what limits you.
- Putting the heaviest machine on top. Keep weight low, or plan for extra support.
- Forgetting the cables. A machine that fits exactly may not fit once the patch cables are in the back.
